The Mission: Phase-wise Evolution of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari’s work in Arunachal Pradesh and develop arunachal pradesh as model state:

  1. THE FIRST PHASE: 1977 - Establishment of the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas (VKV’s) Now, 26 VKV with more than Eight thousand students function in fourteen of sixteen districts. VKV’s have now carved a niche for two-dimensional aspect of education that Swamiji emphasized: Academic and Cultural.
  2. THE SECOND PHASE: 1993 - Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti – a Multi-dimensional Service Project to accelerate the process of self-propelled development at the grassroots while nourishing the traditional socio-cultural fabric of the communities Vivekananda Kendra
  3. THE THIRD PHASE: 1993 – Starting of the activities of Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture [henceforth, VKIC] in Arunachal Pradesh. Visualized as the Intellectual Fountainhead of the North-east VKIC was established in 1993 in Guwahati.

  •     Customary Laws amongst the Tangsas
  •     Kebang – The Traditional Self-governing Institution of the Adis
  •     Role of Priests in Mishmi Society.

==> State-level Seminar on “Development Through Culture”. Keynote Address was delivered by noted intellectual, Shri S. Gurumurthyji. Nineteen [19] Papers were presented and three hundred of the intelligentsia participated across different communities of Arunachal Pradesh.

==> A paper on “Festivals of Arunachal Pradesh and their Common Bases” has been prepared.

  •     How to practically implement the thoughts generated in the course of the seminar particularly amongst the youth.
  •     Symposium to understand the traditional systems more deeply.
