Second Session of Sanskriti Aniveshak

The thematic interactive interdisciplinary forum ‘Sanskriti Anveshak’ lecture series on the theme ‘Governance for Coexistence, Harmony and Progress – Traditions and Institutions of the Northeast India’ organized by Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC) in collaboration with Gauhati University, the second in the series, was held on 27th February, 2023 at UGC- HRDC (Human Resource Development Centre), Gauhati University.

C20 Consultative Conference at Itanagar

VKIC Arunachal Pradesh Chapter organised the C20 consultative Conference on 22nd April at Banquet Hall Itanagar. More than 200 delegates representing CBOs, NGOs, representatives of Indegenious faith, cultural and charitable society, donyi polo trusts, intellectuals and distinguished personalities and social activists attended the conference and shared their views and recommended their point of view.

Yoga Śāstra Sangamam 2023

The Yoga Śāstra Sangamam organized by Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC) was held at Williamson Magor Auditorium, VKIC, Guwahati, on 2nd April 2023. The Sangamam was graced by Swami Atmashuddhananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Guwahati, as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries of Vivekananda Kendra were Ma. Hanumantha Rao, Vice President, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari and Ad. Dr. Sova Rani Barkataky Sarmah, Prant Pramukh, Vivekananda Kendra Assam Prant was also present in the occasion. There was an upastithi of 364 people.

International Women's Day Celebration

On 17th March 2023, VKIC Manipur Chapter celebrated International Women's Day in association with Manipur University and SK women's college at SK women's College indoor hall, Nambol, Bishnupur district. Dr. Promodini Devi, Director, Women Study Centre, Manipur University was Chief Guest and Sri H. Jadumani Sharma, Sanyojak,  VK Imphal was guest of honour in the program. Dr. Promodini delivered on innovation and technology for gender equality. Attendance of the program was 70.

TIT BITS OF DEORI SEMINAR

Regular Samparka of Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture in Deori villages of Assam are still underway. A seminar review baithak was held on 27th November 2022 which was due reporting to our esteemed readers. The venue of the seminar was fixed to Bordeori Gaon, Narayanpur, Lakhimpur district. 16 papers will be received. The review committee of Deori Sahitya Sabha will meet in Dibrugarh or Lakhimpur for review of papers.

A VISIT TO JONBEEL MELA

The three-day mela commenced from 19th of January, 2023 where different communities like Khasi and Jaintia from Meghalaya, Tiwas from Karbi Anglong come down and gather in the bank of the Jon Beel to participate in the historic barter system and strengthen the economic relationship.  The term Jonbeel is an Assamese term, ‘Jon’ means ‘moon’ and ‘Beel’ means ‘wetland’ which means the large natural water body is shaped like a crescent moon.

Study on Tagin Community

Tagin is one of the members of the larger destination of Tani tribes. Known for their warm hospitality and friendly nature, the community mostly inhabits in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. The study on Tagin community is undertaken by VKIC Research Associate (RA) Ku. Barnali Chakraborty. She visited Arunachal Pradesh for research purpose on the Tagin Community.
