India, the largest democracy in the world had seen a very long history of freedom struggle before its independence from the British in 1947. Millions of natives who came out to fight the British rule gave their lives to break the shackles of oppression. The freedom of India is due to the sacrifice of thousands of freedom-fighters all over the country. Many people have played significant roles in raising the national movement. Freedom fighters like Rani Lakshmibai, Mangal Pandey, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Nana Sahib, Tantia Tope, Surendranath Banerjee, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Dadabhai Naoroji, Chittaranjan Das and Jawaharlal Nehru etc., played a great role in getting independence for the country.

VKIC’s 25 Years Celebration with Vivek Murchhana

The celebration of 25 years of the foundation of Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture, Uzan Bazar, Guwahati, commenced here on 23 January (Sunday) 2022 with a musical performance titled ‘Vivek Murchhana’ as an offering to the Almighty.The program anchored by noted classical vocalist Smt Mitali De, witnessed the rendition of acclaimed classical vocalist Sri Jiten Basumatary, followed by a Sarod recital by renowned sarod maestro Sri Tarun Kalita, and a Sattriya dance performance by leading Satriya dance exponent Smt Anita Sharma. She also choreographed Sada Vivekanandamayem rendition in Sattriya form which invited the maximum applause from the audience.Earlier, in his welcome address, Sri Pravin Dabholkar, All India Treasurer, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari and trustee Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC) spoke about the intangible service of the VKIC for the past 25 years towards the culture tradition of north eastern India.

Launching Programme Of Vivekananda Kendra Institute Of Culture, Manipur Chapter

A new chapter of Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC) was launched in Manipur on 8th November, 2021. The launching programme was held at the Auditorium of Central Agricultural University, Lamphelpat, Imphal West with a Sanskriti Anveshak Session  on – ‘Indigenous Food Culture, Microbiome and Health’ delivered by Prof. Debananda Ningthoujam of Manipur University.
