C20 India 2023 is one of the official Engagement Groups of the G20 that provides a platform for Civil Society Organizations (CSO) around the world to voice people’s aspirations to the world leaders in G20. It gives CSOs a forum to protect the agency of this sector, reflect the primary and common concerns affecting the people of the world, and to promote social and economic development with the vision of leaving no one behind.

Role of Vivekananda Kendra

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari is the Institutional Member of the Engagement Group of C20 (Civil Society Organisation), an important Engagement Group of G20 where India holds the presidency this year. Ma Nivedita Didi, Vice President Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari is one of the steering group members where Mata Amritanandamayi, Founder Mata Amritanandamayi Math being on the chair. There are fourteen working groups out of which the Kendra is entrusted with two working groups namely: Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam-World is One Family and Diversity, Inclusion, Mutual Respect.

Role of Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture 

Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture has been entrusted with one of the working groups out of the two namely: Diversity inclusion Mutual Respect. Dr Joram Begi, Chairman, Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture is the National Coordinator of this working group and Dr Sashi Bala, President International Council of Cultural Studies is the international coordinator.

Based on these broad principles the C20 working Group Diversity, Inclusion ,Mutual Respect a platform for stakeholders, organizations, individuals, civil societies and traditional communities who have been practicing sustainable development for centuries would explore, enunciate and recommend diverse approaches of solving world wide civilizational issues on the basis of five broad themes namely: disability, gender issues, spiritual wellbeing, faith, culture respecting native traditions, economy to name a few.

Civil20 Inception Meeting at Nagpur : Dr Joram Begi, Shri Dipankar Mahanta and Ku. Sayanti on behalf of the Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture participated in the Civil20 Inception Meeting at Nagpur where the Civil Society Organisations got together to discuss the 14 different themes presented by the respective Working Groups in these two days. C20 Consultative Conference at Itanagar : VKIC Arunachal Pradesh Chapter organised the C20 consultative Conference on 22nd April at Banquet Hall Itanagar. More than 200 delegates representing CBOs, NGOs, representatives of Indegenious faith, cultural and charitable society, donyi polo trusts, intellectuals and distinguished personalitiesamd social activists attended the conference and shared their views and recommended their point of view.


Civil Society 20 Policy Dialogue at Tripura University : Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture, Guwahati, in collaboration with the Tripura University, organised a Civil Society 20 Policy Dialogue, on 12th May, 2023 at Seminar Hall 2, Building Number 11, Tripura University, Agartala, under the theme Diversity, Inclusion, Mutual Respect (DIMR).
