Study on Tagin Community

Tagin is one of the members of the larger destination of Tani tribes. Known for their warm hospitality and friendly nature, the community mostly inhabits in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. The study on Tagin community is undertaken by VKIC Research Associate (RA) Ku. Barnali Chakraborty. She visited Arunachal Pradesh for research purpose on the Tagin Community.

First Session of Sanskriti Aniveshak

Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC) in collaboration with Gauhati University had organised Sanskriti Anveshak, the interdisciplinary interactive forum of VKIC on the theme “Governance for Coexistence, Harmony and Progress – Traditions and Institutions of Northeast India”. Dr. Parimal Ch Bhattacharjee, Director,VKIC, while welcoming the gathering spoke on the work of VKIC and on the theme.

Sanskriti Anveshak Curtain Rising Programme

The book Traditional Culture of the Rabhas of Assam is a documentation of the project on the Rabha community during the period 2008-2010 with the approval of the Ministry of Culture Government of India. The book is the outcome of the extensive fieldwork done mainly in the Goalpara District of Assam, where much of the population of the community are concentrated. The book entitled The Main Ceremonies of the Khasi is a     translated work by Bijoya Sawain of three vernacular authors   K.S. Marbaniang, Sitimon Sawain and Wallamphang Roy the   book centered on the three important ceremonies of the Khasi   community, their importance, and series of step and activities   involved on it. Sawain has to her credit translated several   books from Khasi into English which are mainly on the life and   culture of the Khasi community..........
